Messe frankfurt Exhibition GmbH

The guideline of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH’s global strategy is international brand strategy, which wins enormous success for the company. Among more than 100 exhibitions, about a half is held outside Germany. Automechanika is one of the most successful brands which is promoted worldwide. Global series exhibitions under this brand are fourteen, they are held in thirteen countries respectively.

As the most influential local host of USA which holds activities to a large scale, Advanstar organizes more than 134 activities, involving many industry sectors, publishes over 30 journals, above 200 electronic journals and websites, and provides educational, marketing products service. Two journals, Auto Body Repair News and Motor Age have a large quantity of readers, including 0.16 million motor repair shop and 0.8 million motor repair technicians. According to the statistics launched by the journal,

80% readers show great interest in trade fair with professional training for motor repair technicians and repair shops, however, only 18% readers indicate that the current fairs held in America are enough for their demands.

Automechanika Chicago is a new member of Automechanika series fairs. Two giants, Messe frankfurt Exhibition GmbH and Adavanstar combine together, and hold largest-scale professional exhibition for motor repair technicians, dealers, repair factories, fast repair shops operators in USA. Enormous advantages, including perfect marketing network of Messe frankfurt Exhibition GmbH and influence of Automechanika in auto industry, are taken. Automechanika is preferable with the quality resources of large quantities of motor repair shops and technicians, influence of local motor repair industry, and the recruitment in spectators and buyers. The exhibition will show the latest tools, equipment and products, and provide a series of high-end training in technology and management.

In USA, 50% motor repair shops are located in east Mississippi River, one fourth in Chicago (an area of 500 mile). From the perspective of motor repair shops, Chicago provides a convenient location.

Though large dealers, importers is also an important part of the industry, they hardly attend the exhibition except play the role of spectator.

During purchasing, motor repair technicians play an indispensible role. Although they don’t participate in decision-making, their decisions on products or brands will have an impact on motor repair shops. Therefore, it’s a smart choice to provide face to face platform for the communication among motor repair technicians, manufacturers, dealers and wholesalers, which also benefits spectators a lot.

The majority of professional spectators of Automechanika Chicago are from whole Northern America (including USA, Canada and Mexico). According to a survey collected from exhibition scene of Frankfurt, 44% attendees have keen interest in Automechanika series exhibition held by USA.

Market Profile of USA

Local cars of USA become increasingly aged, their average service life is about 11.4 year, which is beneficial for the development of motor parts&components market with 3-4% yearly increase, also stimulates the demand for car maintenance. The 2013 sales volumn of local light-type car has reached 15.6 million (increase 7.6% than 2012). Based on the forecast of IHS Automotive, the 2014 sales volumn of local light-type car has reached 16.03 million (increase 2.4% than 2013), reached 16.7 million in 2016. However, the sales volumn in next 5-10 year won’t break through 17million. To sum up, local market of USA has become relatively mature.

From 2011, 70% local motor parts&components of USA use for OE, 30% use for repair, maintenance and replace(post market). According to the report of The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association(AAIA), the aftermarket sales volumn in 2012 has reached 30.77 million dollars, risen 3.5% than 2011, including 23.12 million dollar small cars and light-type trucks, 7.65 million medium and heavy type trucks. Small cars and light-type trucks are expected to reach 26.38 million dollars in 2016, rise about 3.4% year on year.

The rise of car production capacity lead to the rapid increase of upper stream suppliers’ production capacity and new factory’s demands. According to the survey of IHS Automotive, two third suppliers has increased their capacity at the end of 2013. The demands for technology, IT system and light-type materials are also increased rapidly.

The output value of USA motor and motor repair and maintenance products is expected to rise 0.8 every year from 2010 to 2020. This ratio is higher than GDP rise (average 0.5 every year) .
