Lesotho, known as the Lesotho Kingdom in full, is one of the countries of southern Africa as well as a member of the Commonwealth. Lesotho, a landlocked country located in southeastern Africa, is situated on the western slope of Drakensberg in the eastern margin of the South African Plateau.

Lesotho became independent from the United Kingdom on October 4, 1966. As its territory is completely surrounded by South Africa, it is known as the "A Country in Another Country" and is the world's largest country in a country.

Lesotho is one of the least developed countries in the world declared by the United Nations, owing to the scarcity of natural resources and the weak economic base.
