Guinea-Bissau

The Republic of Guinea-Bissau is a West African country on the North Atlantic coast. Guinea Bissau neighbors Senegal in the north and Guinea in the east and the south and the Atlantic Ocean in the west. Its capital is Bissau.

Guinea-Bissau was once the Portuguese colony, and during the period from 1446 to September 10, 1974 its name is Portuguese Guinea.

Guinea-Bissau is one of the twenty poorest countries in the world, with low per capita income as well as flooding of infectious diseases. Its economy is mainly dependent on agriculture and fisheries, and its foreign debt is more than $ 900 million. In 1998, the country's economy and infrastructure were severely damaged by the civil war.

Up to 2014 Guinea Bissau is the world's 6th largest cashew producing countries. Rice is the country's main crop and food. Guinea Bissau also exports seafood and a small amount of peanuts, palm nuts and wood.
