Lithuania

Lithuania, known as Republic of Lithuania in full, is located in the east coast of the Baltic Sea, borders with Latvia in the north, adjacent to Belarus in the southeast and neighbors with Kaliningrad of Russia and Poland, and its capital is Vilnius.

Lithuania is a country with a long history and a glorious civilization, has been contending for hegemony with Russia in North Europe and Eastern Europe, and was once annexed by Russian Empire and the Soviet Union in succession. Lithuania announced its independence from the Soviet Union in 1990. On September 6, 1991, the Soviet Union formally recognized the independence of Lithuania who then joined the EU and NATO.

Lithuania's GDP in 2011 was 42.8 billion US dollars, an increase of 5.9%, and its per capita GDP hit about 13,253 US dollars. Food processing, wood processing, transportation logistics, biotechnology and laser technology are advantageous industries of Lithuania.

On January 1, 2015, Lithuania became the 19th member of the euro zone, which coincides with the 15th anniversary of euro.
