Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a republic of Latin America, it neighbors Nicaragua in the north and is adjacent to Panama in the south. On November 17, 1983 it declared itself as a permanent neutrality. According to the Constitution, Costa Rica has no army, and only the police and security forces are kept to maintain internal security. It is the first country in the world that does not have regular army.

Although the country is an agricultural country, it has achieved a relatively high standard of living, its land ownership is generally expanding, and the tourism industry is booming. At the same time it has a diverse culture because of the cultural interchange between Central and South America.

Costa Rica and the People's Republic of China signed a communique of diplomatic relations on June 1, 2007, and Costa Rica officially announced the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China on the very same day according to the Chinese standard time. At the same time, Taiwan announced its severance with Costa Rica, ending their 63-year "diplomatic" relationship since 1944.
