Romania
Romania is located in the northeast of Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe. It neighbors with Ukraine and Moldova in the north and northeast respectively, connected to Bulgaria in the south, borders with Serbia and Hungary in the southwest and northwest respectively, and neighbors with the Black Sea in the southeast. It has an area of 238,391 square kilometers with a total population of 19,940,000 (December 2014). Its capital is Bucharest.
Romania has a long history, and in Latin Romania means the "Romans’ state". On December 24, 1918, the Principality of Transylvania merged with the Romanian kingdom, and Romania formally reunited. On December 25, 1989, Ceaușescu Romanian Socialist Republic regime was overthrown. Romania is now a member of the EU and NATO.
