Indonesia

Republic of Indonesia, referred to as Indonesia for short, is a Southeast Asian country with the capital of Jakarta. Indonesia is connected to Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Malaysia and other countries.

Indonesia consists of about 17,508 islands and is part of the Malay archipelago. It is the world's largest archipelago country with its territory going across Asia and Oceania, and is also known as the "Thousand Island". It is a country with frequent volcanos and earthquakes. The larger islands are the islands of Kalimantan, Sumatra, Irian, Sulawesi and Java.

Indonesia's population hit 248 million (2013) and ranks fourth in the world after  China, India and the United States. Indonesia is one of the founding countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Southeast Asia's largest economy and a member of the Group 20. Indonesia was once a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (1962-2009) and is rejoining it recently so that it can realize net export of oil resources. The Indonesian archipelago became an important trading area since the 7th century.

The local rulers of Indonesia absorbed foreign cultures, religions and political forms, and there were once prosperous Buddhism and Hindu kingdoms. Muslim traders brought Islam here and the European forces brought Christianity here, and after the great discoveries of geography monopolized the trade in spice Islands Moluccas. After 350 years of Dutch colonial rule, Indonesia declared its independence after the Second World War.

The Indonesian state-owned consortium, led by a consortium of Chinese companies led by the China Railway Corporation and Indonesia's state-owned construction company (WIKA), signed the JV agreement in the Indonesia’s capital of Jakarta.

Jakarta will connect Jakarta and Bandung with a total length of about 150km. It will use Chinese technology, Chinese standards and Chinese equipment, with a designed speed of 250-300 km per hour. After construction and opening of traffic, the time it takes from Jakarta to Bandung will be reduced to about 40 minutes.
