Qatar, known as the State of Qatar in full, is a Arabian country in Western Asia. It is located in the Qatar peninsula on the southwest coast of the Persian Gulf and borders on the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and has a tropical desert climate. It is an emirate with constitutional monarchy.

Qatar has a wealth of oil and natural gas resources, with its total reserve of natural gas ranking third in the world. In the 1940s, the discovery of oil reserves completely changed the economy of the country. This country has a high standard of living and has many social benefits, such as free medical services, available to its nationals.

Qatar hosted the 2006 Doha Asian Games, the 2011 Asian Cup Soccer Tournament and won the right to host the 2022 22nd World Cup Football Tournament.
