Algeria

Algeria, known as the Democratic People's Republic of Algeria in full, is located in northern Africa. Its official language is Algerian Arabic and French is commonly used there, too. Islam is the state religion. Its capital is Algiers.

In 2013, the Algerian population reached 37.9 million. The majority of its people is Arabs and then Berbers (accounting for about 20% of the population).

The economy of Algeria ranks fourth in Africa, only behind South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt. Carbide industry (general call for oil and gas) is the pillar of its national economy.

Algeria has the fifth largest natural gas reserve in the world and is the second largest natural gas exporter in the world. Algeria has the world's 14th largest oil reserves.
