Czech, known as the Czech Republic in full, is a landlocked country in Central Europe with a land area of 78,866 square kilometers. It is the west part of the former Czechoslovakia, and is formerly known as the Kingdom of Bohemia and the Greater Moravia. In 1993 it was separated from Slovakia.

In terms of Czech’s international common terms, although most habitually speaking it is called Czech Republic in English, but in fact according to an official document published in 1993, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czech asked the whole world to call it as Czechia (relative to the Czech language Česko) when it comes to geographical use, and the name of Czech Republic is retained for official-document use, with its international code being CZ.

In 2006 Czech Republic is listed in the developed countries by the World Bank. In the eastern European countries, the Czech Republic has a very high human development index. It is a member of the EU and NATO.
