Solomon Islands

Solomon Islands is an island country in the South Pacific, it is located to the northeast of Australia, to the east of Papua New Guinea, and it is a member of the Commonwealth. It has a total of more than 990 islands with a total land area of 28,450 square kilometers. The capital of Solomon Islands is Honiara, and it is the turning point of the Second World War in the Pacific.

The Solomon Islands is one of the least developed countries in the world (low development countries) with a human development index of 0.610. Most of its population relies on farming, fishing and planting for a living, and the national economy is dominated by farming, fisheries and gold mining. Most manufacturing and petroleum products rely on imports. The islands have not yet developed mineral resources such as lead, zinc, nickel and gold.

At 20:36 on April 13, 2014, an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred at 117 kilometers south of Keirakila, Solomon Islands, with a focal depth of 20 kilometers.
