Senegal

Senegal is located in the westernmost part of the projecting western part of Africa, and its capital is Dakar. It borders Mauritania in the north, neighbors Mali in the east, borders  Guinea and Guinea Bissau in the south, and neighbors the Cape Verde Islands in the west. The coastline is about 700 kilometers long.

Senegal is an agricultural country, with 31% of its total land area being forests and 27% being arable land. Peanuts are the most important economy and export crops, and other industries include fisheries, mining, manufacturing and tourism.

Senegal has abundant phosphate and iron ore reserves. As a member of the Economic Community of West African States and the African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Senegal is working to achieve regional integration and external uniform tariffs. However, on the negative side, the long-standing high urban unemployment, unbalanced socio-economic development and juvenile delinquency have been plaguing the country.
