Cyprus

Cyprus, an island country located at the junction of Europe and Asia and the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. Cyprus guards maritime routes of Europe, Asia and Africa, its strategic position is very important, therefore the European countries and the United States pay high attention to the region's military deployment.

The sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus in law includes Cyprus island and its surrounding waters, except for a small part of the area allocated to the United Kingdom as a military base according to the treaties; while in fact it is divided into two the south part and the north part, and the Republic effectively rules 59%, of which 37% of the north part is occupied by the Turks and clais to be the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and up to 2014 the political entity is currently recognized only by Turkey.

It is currently a member of the Commonwealth. Because Cyprus belongs to Asia on the territorial boundaries, it has a relatively large share of the various commissions or organizations in Asia. Cyprus is a major tourist destination in the Mediterranean. The income and the human development index are fairly high, and the Republic of Cyprus is a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement until 1 May 2004 when it joined the European Union. On January 1, 2008, the Republic of Cyprus joined the euro zone.

It is recognized as a high-income economic system by the World Bank, and in 2001 it is included in the developed economies by the International Monetary Fund.
