Philippines

Republic of the Philippines, referred to as the Philippines in short, is located in the Western Pacific.It is an archipelago country in Southeast Asia and is a multi-ethnic country.

The Filipinos' ancestors were immigrants from the Asian continent. In the 14th century or so, a sea power Sulu Kingdom was established. In 1565, the Spanish invaded the Philippines and ruled the Philippines over 300 years. In 1898 the United States occupied the Philippines. In 1942, the Japanese occupied the Philippines. After World War II, the Philippines re-colonized the United States. In 1946, the Philippines became independent.

Philippine integrated many Eastern and Western customs and habits and thus became exotic. Philippine archipelago race and culture are numerous, the prehistoric nigeli people may be the earliest inhabitants of the Philippines, and then South Island nation migrated here and brought the Malay culture with the development of religion and trade and also brought the Indian culture, Chinese culture and Islamic culture.

The Philippines is mainly composed of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. It is a major member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and one of the 24 members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

The Philippines is one of the developing countries, emerging industrial countries and emerging markets in the world, but the gap between rich and poor is quite significant. Since its independence, the Philippines has experienced rapid economic growth for several times. However, the political situation is often turbulent, and the government corruption and social unrest have become an obstacle to its continued development.

On March 26, 2015, it was said that the Philippines would resume rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the disputed areas in the South China Sea, and these activities include the repair of a runway.

According to the Paris Treaty of 1898, the Washington Treaty of 1900 and the Anglo-American Treaty of 1930, the western boundary of the Philippine Territory is 118 degrees east longitude. But after the 70s of last century, through four military operations, the Philippines illegal occupied 8 reefs in the Chinese Nansha Islands. This is the real origin of the Sino-Philippine territorial dispute.

On October 28, 2015, the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly re-elected the Human Rights Council, and the Philippines was successfully elected.
