Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is a landlocked country located in Central Asia, and it is also the world's largest landlocked country. Its name comes from its main ethnic Kazakh.

Kazakhstan was a former Soviet union republic and declared its independence on December 16, 1991. It borders with Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and other countries, and is separated by the Caspian Sea with Iran and Azerbaijan. Its land area ranks ninth in the world.

Before the 16th century, nomadic Turkic nation lived in Kazakhstan. Until the early 18th century, the Russian Empire annexed its whole territory, and Kazakhstan became a colony of the Russian Empire.

In recent years, Kazakhstan has strengthened its economic, political and military integration with Russia and other Eastern European countries. On January 1, 2015, it established the Eurasian Economic Union with Russia, Belarus, Armenia and other countries.
