Yemen

The Republic of Yemen is located on the southwestern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, and it is adjacent to Saudi Arabia, Oman, the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea. In May 1990 (Year of Gengwu), the Republic of Arabic Yemen (the North Yemen) and the Democratic People's Republic of Yemen (the South Yemen) were merged.

Yemen has 3,000 years of written history and is one of the cradles of ancient civilization of the Arab world. Yemen is one of the least economically-developed countries in the world. Food is not self-sufficient, and about one-half depends on imports. In the summer sandstorm is common in the desert, and due to overgrazing, desertification has become increasingly serious. The country's cotton has good quality and there is a large number of exports each year, coffee also has a large acreage and takes up an important position. In recent years, the government is committed to reducing budget deficits and government spending, making great efforts in controlling inflation and stabilizing prices.

In March 2015, Yemeni President Abdul Rahm Mansur Hardy announced Aden as the temporary capital due to the fact that its capital Sana was occupied by Hussein militants.
