Saudi Arabia


The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is located in Arabian Peninsula, southwest part of Asia. It neighbors the Persian Gulf on the east, close to the Red Sea on the west, and borders on Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Yemen.

Saudi Arabia is a veritable "Oil Kingdom", with its oil reserves and production ranking first in the world, making it one of the richest countries in the world. Saudi Arabia is the world's largest producer of desalinated seawater, with its desalination accounting for about 21% of the world's total. Saudi Arabia adopts free economic policy. Mecca is the birthplace of Muhammad who is the founder of Islam and it is the holy pilgrimage of Islam.

Saudi Arabia is the world's largest barley importer with an average annual import of about 6 million tons. Its fruit self-sufficiency rate reaches 60%. Its animal husbandry mainly include sheep, goats, camels and so on. The main agricultural products are: wheat, corn, date palms, citrus, grapes, pomegranates and so on. Saudi Arabia's cereal self-sufficiency rate is relatively low, only 20%, therefore it relies on a large number of imports to meet the demand.

Saudi Arabia's financial system is well developed. Saudi Arabia's tourism industry is also relatively developed. The Government of Saudi Arabia encourages the development of the private sector in order to reduce the dependence of the national economy on oil exports and to provide more employment opportunities for the fast-growing population. Saudi Arabia also uses large numbers of foreign workers. Industry plays a key role in economic development and petroleum and petrochemical industry are the lifeblood of the national economy as well as the main source of economic income.
