Oman

The Sultanate of Oman, known as Oman for short, is located in the southeastern Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. It holds the world's most important oil export channel - the Strait of Hormuz between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Oman is one of the oldest countries in the Arabian Peninsula. It began extensive maritime and land trade activities in 2000 BC and gradually became the shipbuilding center of Arabian Peninsula .

Oman is a traditional agricultural society, with about 40% of its residents being engaged in agriculture, fishery and animal husbandry and the majority of its people being self-sufficiency. Its main products include barley, date palm, gold, oil, copper, iron and so on. Oman began to exploit oil in the 1960s. It was rich in natural resources, however it was not quite a rich Arab country due to the late start of the economy, its weak economic base and relatively slow development.
