Iraq
The Republic of Iraq is located in the southwest part of Asia and the northeastern part of Arabian Peninsula bordering with many countries, with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait located on its south side, Turkey on its north side, Syria on its northwest side and Iran and Jordan respectively located on its east side and west side. Arabs account for 73% of the total population and Kurds account for 21%. Muslims account for 95% of the total population, with Shiite Muslims accounting for 54% and Sunni Muslims accounting for 41%. The official language is Arabic, the official language of the northern Kurdish region is Kurdish, and some residents in the eastern region speak Persian.
The region in which Iraq is located was once called Mesopotamia (Tigris and Euphrates) and is one of the major cradles of human civilization. The oil industry is the economic pillar of Iraq and ranks fourth in the world in terms of oil reserves, after Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Iran.
On February 5, 2015, in view of the improvement of the security situation of Baghdad-capital of Iraq-, it was decided that the long-term curfew in Baghdad was lifted.
